Project Details

A knockdown/re-build project for a contemporary family beach home in loving memory of a husband and father who would have been so proud to achieve this for his family. Upon entering the front entrance door leading to subtle hints within tiles and handles, the initial ‘D’ signifies the adored family member’s name to ensure his legacy and memory remains present and strong.

With a clear design vision in mind, an exterior and interior colour palette was developed to appeal to all family members involved creating a warm and inviting feel.

A bold facade of dark metal cladding with modern clinker style bricks provides striking street appeal. The home reflects a unique coastal aesthetic with warm, whitewashed engineered oak floors, matte black fittings, fixtures and tapware, white patterned mosaics and encaustic feature tiles in steel grey and dusty pink hues. Handmade concrete basins were selected to complement each space seamlessly. Bespoke joinery throughout encompasses soft tones and wood matte finishes, sophisticated veined reconstituted stone and timber ‘D’ handles providing continuity and flow. Half nib walls cladded in v-groove panelling within each bedroom allows an opportunity to showcase individual décor pieces and artwork. Olive green accents in leather bound dining chairs and a custom-made modular sofa to cater for large family gatherings on winter nights in front of the fireplace complimented by curved timber furniture, terrazzo accents and pure wool textural rugs.

Being involved in the specification of all interior light fittings, furniture, décor accessories, linen and window coverings provides a thoughtfully curated and carefully considered home.

A special project with a heartfelt meaning and purpose for family and friends to come together,
unite and confide in one another in complete style and above all, comfort.

Client Feedback

"I first met Chelsea through my work, she was a patient of the practitioner I worked for. It was quite ironic that we hit it off from the very first time we met, so much so that every month Chelsea would arrive at least a half hour early for her appointment so that we could have a good chat. It was from this I discovered what Chelsea did for employment and this led to us working together in updating my family home ready to sell so that my husband and I could downsize. Our friendship grew and grew plus Chelsea taught me lots about colour, design, and the most important “LESS IS MORE”. 4 years on I have just built a beautiful new home in Rosebud and with Chelsea’s guidance and help as a family we couldn’t be happier. Her advice along the way was invaluable and her suggestions of simple things like niches, VJ board bed heads, to colour of tiles, walls to match the outside was exquisite. The home is now finished and the connection between builder, cabinet maker, tradies, myself and Chelsea was unbelievable, we were always on the same page, then to top it off the decorating and finished touches were impeccable right down to the artwork and bedding. I can’t thank Chelsea enough and I must say the work in the background was something I didn’t think about, as I had never built a house before, she just took all the stress away. I would highly recommend Indigo Design - Chelsea Simpson for any project."
